Apfscil Rail Group Travel situation update (April 2011)

Not good news on 'group' rail travel. For a couple of years Apfscil have been in negotiation with representatives of the Train Operating Companies (TOCs) to secure a national group discount travel facility for affiliated supporters clubs. The meetings have been brokered by the FA and have included the FSF and British Transport Police. Reluctantly the Apfscil rep has come to the conclusion that continuing attendance at these meetings is pointless. He does not see any prospect of the TOCs offering any form of national group travel facility. This is despite support from the Police and the fact that Apfscil had agreed a code of conduct to 'supervise' group travel at the TOC’s request. Indeed the latest advice from the TOCs is that individual clubs should negotiate individually with the companies. The Apfscil rep is giving it one more go at the next meeting but don't hold your breath.
