Waddington suite 2007

In February 2007, SCSSC prize draw winners Geoff Rushton, Michael Rose, Peter Heath and John Wood, accompanied by guests, enjoyed hopsitality in the Waddington suite at the Britannia Stadium for the match against Southend.

A good time was had by all despite the visitors’ late equaliser.

We enjoyed a tour of the stadium before our meal and we were then entertained by the double act of host Terry Conroy and guest of honour Denis Smith (right) who reminisced about what sounds like almost a different sport from the early 70s. Mike Bernard was the other guest of honour.

Our seats were perfect being at ‘balcony’ level on the halfway line. A cheap tickets offer from the Sentinel newspaper meant that the ground was pretty full - over 23,000 - a nice change from the norm!

After the match we were presented with signed shirts by our sponsored player Andy Wilkinson (below left) and Danny Higginbotham (below right) who is sponsored by Jeff Lea.

Willko's shirt will be one of the prizes at our AGM raffle along with a programme autographed by all of the above and a few first team squad players.
